Return to Harlem’s golden days of black entertainment: Irene, John and Checkers, three middle-aged entertainers who have been in showbiz for many years meet a young couple in Harlem. The entertainers lead the young Jim and Ella back to the days of Swing and Blues, when black entertainers in Harlem’s nightclubs once fascinated the white visitors, as it was in the extravagant Cotton Club, Small’s Paradise and in the Savoy Ballroom. Irene, John and Checkers bring many legendary black show numbers to life again.
