It is perhaps the most-played violin concerto of all time and one of the more demanding works for the violin virtuoso - Tchaikovsky’s Concerto for Violin - remarkable for its unwavering melodic inspiration and passionate expression of human feeling.  In it, Tchaikovsky speaks to us from the heart, using the voice of the solo violin as his medium.  Also on the program is the light and playful 9th Symphony by Shostakovich.
